Google Chrome is the most widely used web browser in the world, known for fast page loading, a clean interface and tight integration with Google services. Signing in with a Google account syncs your bookmarks, passwords, history and open tabs across Windows, Android, iPhone and Mac.
Chrome's large extension store lets you add ad blockers, password managers, grammar checkers and thousands of other tools. Built-in features include a password manager with breach alerts, Safe Browsing warnings for dangerous sites and downloads, automatic background updates, and tab groups for keeping research organised.
The trade-offs are memory use and privacy. Chrome can use a lot of RAM when many tabs are open, and it shares more data with Google than privacy-focused browsers such as Firefox or Brave. Its settings let you limit some of this. If you rely on Gmail, Google Docs or YouTube and want maximum website compatibility, Chrome is a dependable default.
